Indeed Best Practices

Trakstar Hire's integration with Indeed is a major source of high-quality applicants. Following these best practices helps ensure your job postings remain visible, compliant, and optimized for candidate reach.

Best Practices

Optimize Posting Dates

When creating a job posting, choose a posting duration that matches how long you intend to recruit for the position.

Best practices:

  • Decide how long the position should remain open before publishing.
  • Avoid reposting the same job simply to increase visibility.
  • If you want your posting to appear higher in Indeed search results, consider sponsoring the job instead of creating a new posting.

Avoid Duplicate Job Postings

Creating multiple postings for the same position can negatively impact your visibility on Indeed.

To help prevent your jobs from being removed or hidden:

  • Create only one posting for each position you are hiring for.
  • Do not repost identical jobs to refresh their visibility.
  • If you believe your jobs are being blocked on Indeed, contact your HR Administrator so they can work with your Trakstar Hire representative to investigate.

Note: Avoid searching for your own job postings on Indeed. Repeated views without applications can negatively affect placement in Indeed's search results.

ATS Jobs Are Prioritized

If your jobs are posted through Trakstar Hire (or another Applicant Tracking System) and you also post the same positions directly on Indeed, Indeed prioritizes the ATS version of the posting.

To avoid duplicate or hidden listings:

  • Post jobs through your ATS whenever possible.
  • If you choose to post directly on Indeed, you may need to sponsor those postings to improve visibility.

Use the Appropriate Posting Type

When creating recurring or continuously hiring positions, set the Posting Type to Evergreen.

This identifies the position internally as one that is continuously sourcing candidates.

Format Pay Information Correctly

If your location requires salary transparency, include wage information in your job posting. Omitting required pay information may result in your posting being removed from Indeed and could make the posting noncompliant with applicable regulations.

For Indeed to properly recognize pay information, follow these formatting guidelines.

Number Formatting

Do Don't
1000 1,000
1500.50 1.500,50

1 000

1'000

1k

Guidelines:

  • Use a period (. ) for decimal values.
  • Do not use commas, spaces, or apostrophes in whole numbers.
  • Do not abbreviate thousands using "k".

Pay Ranges

When listing a salary range, include spaces around the hyphen.

Do Don't
$10 - $15 $10-$15

Pay Period Formatting

When listing pay by time period, include spaces around the slash.

Do Don't
$10 / hour $10/hour

Contacting Indeed

Indeed uses a customer-direct support model for employers.

If you have questions or issues related to your Indeed account, contact Indeed directly rather than contacting Trakstar Hire on your behalf. This approach allows Indeed to provide faster support for employer accounts.
