Trakstar: Hire's premier partnership with Indeed is a huge driver in receiving high numbers of quality applicants. It is important to get familiar with a few best practices to ensure that the partnership is working its best for you.
These best practices include:
- Optimized posting dates
- Refraining from posting duplicates
- Contacting Indeed directly with questions/concerns
Posting Dates
While creating a job posting, management users set a date range of how long that posting should source for applicants.
We recommend knowing how long you want your job postings to remain open and never reposting them. If you would like your postings placed higher on the Indeed job site, it's more effective to sponsor your jobs.
ATS Jobs Prioritized
If your jobs are indexed from your career site or applicant tracking system (ATS), like Trakstar Hire, and your company also posts jobs directly on Indeed, the ATS postings will be prioritized due to Indeed's policies. To avoid your directly-posted jobs from being hidden, either post them through your ATS or you'll need to sponsor those jobs posted directly on Indeed for visibility.
Duplicate Postings
Duplicate postings are a large contributor to the Indeed algorithm removing or "blocking" job postings from their job feed. It is important that - if you are the posting manager for your location(s) - you create only one posting for each position you are hiring for. Creating many jobs for the same position could result in all postings being removed from the job search feed. Reposting your Jobs could lead to your Postings getting "blocked" on the Indeed site.
If you think your Jobs are being blocked on Indeed, please have your HR Admin reach out to the Trakstar: Hire representative for your company to confirm.
*NOTE: Avoid searching your own jobs on Indeed's job board. Indeed's algorithm records when a job has been shown to a jobseeker but they do not apply. This will affect your placement on their job site.
Posting Type
When creating a job posting, the best practice is to set your Posting Type to 'Evergreen'. This will notate internally that you are constantly sourcing for that position.
Formatting Pay Rate
You may live in a state that requires wage information to be included in the Job Posting. If you fail to do this, not only are your Job Postings not compliant with government regulations, but your Posting will be removed from the Indeed job site. For Indeed to recognize the pay rate information, there are some things to keep in mind as best practices.
- Separate decimal places and non-decimal places with a period
- Do not insert any commas, spaces, apostrophes, or anything in the integral part of the number
- Don't user shorthand notations like "k" to express thousands
Do | Don't |
---|---|
1000 |
|
1500.50 |

Number ranges
If you are using a hyphen to express a range of numbers, please put a space before and after the hyphen:
Do | Don't |
---|---|
$10 - $15 | $10-$15 |
Pay per time period
If you are using a slash to express the pay per time period, please put a space before and after the slash:

$10 / hour | $10/hour |
ATS Jobs Prioritized

Contacting Indeed
In order to better serve our mutual customers, Indeed moved to a client-based support model. What this means is that instead of contacting Indeed on behalf of our clients, clients are to contact Indeed directly.
