Advanced Candidate Search helps you quickly find candidates by searching profile information, filtering results, and using Boolean search operators to create more targeted searches.  Watch the video below or read on to learn more.

Use Advanced Candidate Search

If you need more control over your search results, use Advanced Search.

To access Advanced Search:

  1. Go to the Candidates page.
  2. Click Advanced to the right of the search box.

From Advanced Search, you can refine your search using one or more criteria.

Search Within Specific Profile Areas

Enter a keyword and choose where Trakstar Hire should search for that information within the candidate profile.

If you select multiple locations, the keyword can appear in one or more of the selected areas.

Filter by Candidate Details

You can narrow results by filtering candidates based on:

  • Labels
  • Openings
  • Stages

  • Application question responses

  • Candidate source
  • Candidate creation date
  • Application date

Note: You can search across multiple labels and include decision stages such as Hired, On Hold, Rejected, and Archived.

You may complete as many search fields as needed. After configuring your filters, click Search to display candidates matching your criteria.

Use Boolean Search Operators

Advanced Candidate Search supports Boolean search operators, allowing you to build more precise search queries.

Here are a few examples of Boolean Search terms:

  • Use AND to return candidates who contain all specified terms.

Example:

"react AND python"

Returns candidates whose profiles mention both React and Python.

  • Use OR to return candidates who contain at least one of the specified terms.

Example

"python OR react"

Returns candidates whose profiles mention Python, React, or both.

  • Group Search Terms

Use parentheses to group related search terms.

Example

"(business administration OR MBA) AND (finance OR strategy)"

Returns candidates who mention either:

Business Administration or MBA

and

Finance or Strategy

  • Nested Searches

You can create more advanced nested Boolean searches using multiple sets of parentheses.

Example

"(business administration AND (MBA OR finance)) AND commerce"

The search evaluates the innermost parentheses first before applying the remaining conditions.

Sort Search Results

After running a search, you can sort the results list using the sorting arrows in the upper-right corner of the candidate list.

Does Advanced Search Include Archived Candidates?
